A native of Munich, SS-Standartenführer Wilhelm Zander served as an adjutant to Martin Bormann during the Second World War.

As the war in Europe ended, he had accompanied Bormann to the Führerbunker in Berlin. He later fled the bunker during Battle of Berlin, carrying documents that including Hitler's will.

It was subsequently discovered that he had adopted the surname Paustin and worked as a gardener [1]
