Wintersleep

Wintersleep are a Canadian indie rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia also band member Ross Andrews hometown amherst. What started out as a side-project eventually turned into one of the most popular live shows in Atlantic Canada. Wintersleep are a part of Dependent Music, a music label/collective that began in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1994. While they only have two CD releases, both self-titled, Wintersleep have a large and faithful gathering due to their extensive touring through Canada and Europe.

In 2006, Wintersleep signed a deal with Labworks Music to re-release their 'Wintersleep' and 'Untitled' records in the U.S and Canada. The re-releases include bonus tracks and videos not found in the originals.

Their music style has been described as "entirely honest" and "deeply moving" with "captivating ambiance". [citation needed] While playing live, the band encourages everyone to sing along.

Notes:

- Murphy and D'eon played together in the band Kary (on hiatus).

- In addition to playing live drums for Kary, Campbell is a part of many other projects/bands including Contrived, Holy Fuck, the Holy Shroud, and The Remains of Brian Borcherdt (to name a few).

- Bigelow plays bass in Contrived with Campbell and Samuel (guitar). He also plays bass in Holy Fuck and the Holy Shroud with Campbell.

- Haynes formerly played bass in the Newfoundland-based hard rock group Bucket Truck.

- D'eon played guitar for Contrived before Samuel joined the group, and appears on Contrived's first record, Pursuit of Plots. He also plays on the sophmore album, Dead Air Verbatim.

- The second album (Untitled) contains a hidden track before Track 1. Most computers do not support this kind of hidden track, so the CD must be in a conventional CD player, and the listener must rewind past the beginning of track 1.
