Womb-Future Style
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Womb, (Future Style) in Dogenzaka, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan was recently voted one of the top nightclubs in the world by Mixmag magazine.
Womb's sound and lighting system, perhaps unsurpassed, in Japan is an imitation of Twilo in New York City.
[edit] History and design
Womb opened in the spring of 2000. It is located about 15 miunutes from Shibuya station in the quiet love hotel district of Dogenzaka.
The exterior of the club may be mis-leading to most people. It is a large conrete grey box hidden between love hotels. Inside, Womb is a large rectangular box.
The entrance, on the ground floor leads to lockers and a small chill-out lounge.
The main floor with its giant mirror ball is on the 2nd floor. A small bar is found at the front of the dance floor. Depending on the artist, the DJ booth may be on the floor, as well.
The main DJ booth, on the 3rd floor, overlooks the main floor. Beside the DJ booth is another bar with open windows that look down onto the floor.
On the fourth floor is another bar, chill-out lounge and a DJ usually plays here, as well. The fourth floor has glass walls looking down onto the dance floor two floors below, however these glass walls do not open. The fourth floor is sometimes VIP only. Toilets are located on every floor.
[edit] DJs
