Xlibris is an on-demand publishing services provider.
As it is a self-publishing company, Xlibris gives creative control and ownership rights to the author.
Xlibris has been identified as a vanity press.[1]

A pioneer in the self-publishing and print on demand industry, Xlibris has been successfully turning writers into authors for nine years since April 1997. The name is a derivation of the Latin term ex libris which means "from the library of".
One of the very first people who believed in Xlibris and the industry in general is Piers Anthony<ref>Interview with Piers Anthony</ref>, a well-known sci-fi author. In December 1997, he and his wife became a part of Xlibris as venture capitalists. Later, Random House formed a close and complementary partnership with Xlibris.

Xlibris uses multiple printers depending on the requirements of each manuscript.
Xlibris picture books contain ample space for full-page spreads of full-bleed images. Xlibris produces hardback volumes.
