Yishun MRT Station

Image:Yishun mrt station.jpg Yishun MRT Station (NS13) is a Mass Rapid Transit station in Singapore, built above ground level. It is the northernmost of 2 stations serving Yishun New Town and is part of the North South Line. This used to be the northernmost station of the line until stations along the Woodlands extension were built. During peak periods on weekdays, northbound trains will terminate at platform A of the station, to perform a turnaround at the middle track located between Sembawang MRT Station and Yishun MRT Station, after that, the turnaround train will arrive at platform B of the station to travel towards Marina Bay. Northbound trains also turnaround at Yishun to do withdrawal back to Bishan depot. This turnaround train service provides a higher train frequency for passengers travelling between Yishun and Marina Bay as the passenger loading along this stretch of line is higher than that of between Yishun and Jurong East.

[edit] Bomb plot
In December 2001, the Singapore embassies attack plot was discovered, and had included plans to bomb Yishun Station at several points, including the sewers near the station. This was brought up in a debate during a session of the parliament, during which new security measures were proposed, especially on for the MRT system itself.
