[edit] History

Zero started out as a clothing company in 1996 by Jamie Thomas while he was skateboarding professionally for Toy Machine. It evolved into a full fledged skateboard company with Thomas leaving Toy Machine and becoming Zero's first pro.<ref>http://www.twsbiz.com/twbiz/industrynews/article/0,21214,708120,00.html</ref> As the team grew,

Thomas started a new company, Mystery Skateboards in October 2003, headed by Zero pro Adrian Lopez. Ryan Smith and Lindsey Robertson, who were amateurs at the time for Zero, also went to Mystery.

Zero decks are manufactured in Tijuana, Mexico, by Cinco Maderas, which is also owned by Thomas.<ref>http://www.twsbiz.com/twbiz/industrynews/article/0,21214,708321,00.html</ref> Zero is part of the Black Box Distribution family, along with Mystery Skateboards and Fallen Footwear.

[edit] Trivia

  • Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins wore a similar black t-shirt with the word "ZERO" imprinted on it. Many people incorrectly assume that Corgan is associated with the skate company. He began wearing those shirts in 1995. In addition to that, his shirt had a star under the "ZERO."
  • In the Disney-Pixar film Toy Story, the character Sid Phillips wears a shirt with a skull similar to the Zero skull.
