A pillbox hat is a small woman's hat with a flat crown and straight, upright sides. Perhaps the most famous example is the pink pillbox that Jacqueline Kennedy wore on the day her first husband was assassinated.

Historically, the pillbox was also a military headdress, and can still be seen on ceremonial occasions in some countries, especially those belonging to the Commonwealth. The military version often includes a chin strap.

Pillbox hats are mentioned in the song "Leopard-Skin Pillbox-Hat" by the folk artist Bob Dylan. The song first appeared on his 1966 album "Blonde on Blonde."
