Sayner, Wisconsin

Sayner is an unincorporated community in the town of Plum Lake in Vilas County, Wisconsin. The community claims to be the birthplace of the snowmobile, citing a "motor toboggan" built by Carl Eliason in 1924.<ref>"Sayner, Wisconsin - Birthplace of the Snowmobile" from RoadsideAmerica.com Accessed August 22, 2006</ref> The community is home to the Vilas County Historical Society. Sayner is commonly visited by snowmobilers from neighboring Eagle River and St Germain in the winter months, the Sayner Barnstormers handle the trails.
Sayner is located at the intersection of Highway 155 and County N. It is about 15 miles northwest of Eagle River.
