Sonya was born in London, United Kingdom. She studied English Literature at Christ Church College, Oxford, where she received a first class degree.
She played Donna Barnes in The Mind of the Married Man TV series on HBO, and she also made a guest appearance on Lost as Desmond's girlfriend, Penelope "Penny" Widmore.
She played Nicole Noone in The Librarian: Quest for the Spear with Noah Wyle, but will not reprise that role in The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines.
She also has a recurring role as Jane Parsons, head of the DNA Lab in CSI: NY.
