The People, known as the Sunday People from 1972-2002, is a British "red-top" Sunday-only newspaper, owned by the Trinity Mirror Group.
It is a competitor to The News Of The World, although with a circulation slightly less than one million, The People lags somewhat behind its rival and its sister paper The Sunday Mirror. It usaully features scandals about celebrities.
The newspaper has been affected by cost-cutting during 2006, including fourteen journalists being made redundant.
